19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
